Title: The 2nd DooC 1v1 Tournament

The Setup:

It will be held here on the DooC War Server: 91.250.98.96:27961. The mod we will be running is ETPro. Same setup as the first one :D
It will take place on the 16th and 17th of March (yes two days). Once all the players have signed up the roster and draw will be revealed and people will need to confirm they can make that time.
Please make sure you can make it. It is funner to play a match than to get a walkover.
Also join mumble whilst during the tournament. Was a great laugh with everyone last time. Doesnt matter if you can only speak a bit of english. :D

The Maps:
te_valhalla_eswc
purefrag

Any map suggestions?

Rules:
All matches will be played in ETPro.
Matches are a best of 3 rounds
Rounds are 5 minutes long
Classes Allowed: Field Ops
Spectators allowed unless players dont want them
Weapon Restrictions:
All weapons a field op has excluding arty and airstrike

The draw will be with tournament brackets so people will progress from 1/8 finals to quarter to semis to final or 3/4 place match.

A map will be assigned at random to your match up. It may be any from the list mentioned above.

The first round is played. The person with the most deaths after 5 minutes loses. Then the players swap teams.
The second round is played. Once again the person with the most death after 5 minutes loses. (note that you will have to subtract the previous round's score in order to get the score for this one but i am sure that shouldnt be too hard.
If the first two rounds result in a tie, 1-1, then a third round needs to be played. Otherwise the winner is crowned and s/he moves to the next round in the tournament.
The loser will then move to the loser bracket where they will compete for wooden spoon so everyone will at least get to play two matches.
If i third round has to played. The person with the least deaths win and moves on to the next round.

We are using the ESL rules for deathmatch maps:
All deathmatch maps have 5 minutes time limit.
Player with fewer DEATHS, after both rounds, won the map.
Self kills are allowed, but will give you a death.
Falling to death is also included to the amount of deaths.
Setting artillery/support fire results in at least losing the round.
In very special cases you even can lose the map.

About the last part setting arty. you wont lose the round but just dont do it on purpose

As people progress through the rounds and the final is reached where the champion will be decided.

Remember it is all for fun and pride

You can now sign up and i will put you in the pot for the random draw.

Are arti and airstrike allowed in esl 1v1?
Because I think you should be able to disable them via config …
Maybe I’ll get to check before the next tourney. :)

they are not allowed in esl either.

                                               Element_b4_1 or element_b2 is good too.

                                               et_headshot is a good map too :D

That was my suquestions they are the best frag / war maps I know.

What do you guys think?

The goldrush map sucked.
It’s absolutely bad for one side, with the tiny single entrance of the other.
Compare that to the one we played most of our matches on. The central view to the other spawn is blocked, it has multiple routes on multiple levels, enough free room and enough hiding places. It’s a different league.
I’d never consider that goldrush map as a (good) 1v1 map.

Guess why the original has a second exit to the back, which also provides a save route to a third behind the bank, in the end giving you 3 exits from spawn to the big open area in the middle.

Purefrag seems pretty good as well.
It has 5 spawn exits, and a house with several ways/levels in the middle.

I’d add purefrag to the map pool.

On et_headshot you can configure the map through 4 switches.
I guess if we choose to use et_heatshow we should define which configuration to use as well.
All on seems ok/good.

The map has some big issues for us though:
I’m not sure the spawn is moved down once the duel starts, until the match is over. The layout suggests it is a one duel (life) after another - contrary to the rest of our tournament.
Additionally, the map has medic and ammo stations.

I would thus not add et_headshot to the map pool.

personally i dont think et_headshot will be a good map. i agree with pure frag though which certainly can be added to the list

Well, I think et_headshot is a fine map but not so qualifite to a War map.

Ehm if we do a 6v6 Tournament ever we should take only Custom maps

Dunno if I changed that in the conf, but I’d suggest
setl b_damagexp 0 and setl b_riflegrenades 0.
Not sure but without damagexp the xp score should get closer to the deaths score.
Also, I changed the lognames.

I uploaded it, in the attached version.

In the xlsx sheet I added functions so you just have to enter winner and loser, and it puts them into the match-cells automatically.
(Do they work in excel? :P I edited with LibreOffice.)

The final is missing though, right? Which would be winner 13 vs winner 15!?

Nope the final is there. The semi finals are match 10 and 12 so the final is the winners of those two games.

Losers of the first round will always play again. The third round matches the losers will play in the 3rd place match on the winning bracket and are knocked out in the losers bracket
