Clan wars
« on: 03.03.2013, 20:08:00 »
Basically for anyone who is un-aware of what a clan war is, it is when two clans have a match against each other. It can be a friendly or a ranked match.
Seeing Kissaki has so kindly set up a second war server, i think it is best that we utilise this resource. There is no point having the war server idling
the whole time with no players/activity on besides the DooC tournaments especially seeing it is being paid for. Hence i suggest we join a league. This will
allow us to find opponents easily and we can both enjoy and utilise our second server.

I have looked at our options and i personally am of the opinion that 3v3 would best suit our clan.
There are two main ladders. TWL and ClanBase. Personally i would suggest to use Clanbase as it seems the more active of the two. In addition to this, i have
used clanbase before and it has been quite positive.
However i didnt want to simply dive into the clanwar scene without seeing if there is any demand for it.

Some details:
3v3 Ladder
ETPro
Stopwatch Mode
Probably have two teams. 1 that is competitive and the other just for fun (cater for both wants)
can use mumble as teamspeak
We can decide when matches are held. Hence easier for everyone to make it.

You can check out the ladders here

Ah, TTL is new to me.
For the most part we played in clanbase in the past. Been some time though.
We also played in the ESL for some time, they also have a 3v3 latter: http://www.esl.eu/eu/et/3on3/ladder/rankings/

Whether we host the warserver or not doesn’t cost us more atm. It’s a vServer with root access, so we’re a bit variable in what we use it for.

Personally, I am one who likes playing in a team. :)
Unfortunately I don’t have time for training or wars within the week. I could only play on weekends.
On those I would also be willing to introduce concepts like strafe-jumping, as I’ve seen in our first tournament some don’t use it (yet).

I’d also like to suggest an alternative.
You can search for instant matches on IRC; on quakenet in #3on3.et
http://www.quakenet.org/search?q=3on3.et
We have done so in the past, which worked quite well. Of course, the enemies are not easy there neither – I’d say you end up playing stronger opponents than when only playing ladder. But you can play more often I guess, and more spontaneously.

Yea i think some other members also have the issue that they can only play weekends.
I would gladly see you hold a sort of masterclass training session. would be quite good. What we could do is train a couple weekends before we actually enter a match.
Thanks for the other links. Ill look into those and see what is what. Looks like some good stuff. The only reason i had preferred clanbase is because i am familiar with it plus it seems quite active.

Sure.
(We preferred clanbase over esl back then as well. But that’s years ago. :) )

just found the two old DooC teams (white and QW). Want to make a new clan if we go on there or edit the old one.

What’s the difference?

Do you plan on putting yet another clan-memberlist in place? I don’t think we need that. Only members who may want to participate in a match have to register there.

its based on the ladder. one will be ideally chasing the top whilst the other is just more relaxed
